Avery Bell was born and raised in Kansas and became a resident of Lenexa in 2015. He graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s in Communication and two minors: Theatre and Sociology.
During his junior year while working full-time he became the representative for his college within the university student government. When he moved back to the Kansas City to start a new full-time job he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and attended the University of Kansas to complete his Master of Business Administration. Within his studies at KU he found excitement in the numbers and elected to make Finance his specialization.
His education and background allowed him to build his skills that eventually lead him to becoming the North America Sales Manager for the data center division of Kohler. Recently he was Regional Director for Mission Critical construction at Henderson Building Solutions right here in Lenexa Ward 3. Today, Avery is a Global Account Executive at Siemens. He has roughly a decade of experience in the mission critical infrastructure sector, a wealth of knowledge on finance, and passion for the arts.
Avery has always been a voice for the people. Beyond his formal professional positions in leadership he has been an organizer for coalitions, a member of advocacy groups, and a volunteer for various community programs. He believes firmly that government is a place for everyone and that it starts with local government.
Avery would be the 4th generation Bell to hold office in city government. He understands Lenexa is stronger than ever and to continue to help it grow it is important to have someone who: has a background in design / construction / infrastructure planning, a comprehensive knowledge of financials and contracts, and above all else a proven history of listening to the people and taking action.
Avery and his wife Carla Valenzuela can often be found walking their two dogs in the Ad Astra Park or along the nature trails throughout Lenexa. They were thrilled with the outcome for the Ad Astra Pool and are greatly looking forward to its opening. On some occasions you may also see them playing pickleball at Bois D’Arc Park… playing poorly - but having fun.
A few years back you may have also seen Avery in a production at Theatre in the Park or spotted him as a judge in the Lenexa BBQ Battle. He is a self-proclaimed “nerd” with an impressive love of computer technologies, board games, and gardening.
